Imagine waking up to 40 cm of fresh snow — and knowing exactly where to ski it. We live in Hokkaido's powder zone, check conditions every morning and chase the lightest snow on earth. No fixed route. No tourist traps. Just 8 days of bottomless powder, local food and skiing you'll never forget.
Only 8 spots per trip · Season Dec–Mar · Some weeks already sold out
The experience
You wake up and pull back the curtains. You see snow falling softly against the window. Downstairs, someone is making coffee.
You come down and fry some eggs. 'Kamui got 40 cm of snow last night. It's dead calm.'
You get dressed and pack your skis and gear into the car. You stop at 7-Eleven and grab an onigiri for lunch.
You're among the very first in the lift queue. A few minutes later you're at the top. Ten minutes of skating or hiking.
Then: Untouched powder in front of you. You have the entire mountainside to yourselves.
The snow is so light it barely makes a sound as you drop in. Powder flies around you. You hear the cheers from the others in your group.

Your legs are burning and you're laughing over a spicy ramen for lunch.
An Izakaya restaurant with six seats. The owner sets down homemade soba and a cold Sapporo beer. Outside, it's snowing again.
Tomorrow you'll do it all again. But somewhere different. This is what 'chasing powder' actually means.
You fly 10 hours, land at Sapporo New Chitose. You spend the week at a resort overrun with Aussies, Brits and 30-minute lift queues. Before ten o'clock the runs are scraped ice and moguls. You pay resort prices for the same three overpriced tourist restaurants every night. You came for Japan's legendary powder — and got a ski resort that could've been Thredbo with jetlag and worse food.
You book with a big tour operator for € 3,900–5,600. The route was locked months ago. Tuesday is Furano. Thursday is Asahidake. But on Tuesday, 50 cm of fresh snow dumped on Kamui — and you drove right past in the bus. By Thursday, the storm that was supposed to hit Asahidake shifted south. You pay full price for half-baked experiences — and watch the perfect powder days from the van window.
You hire a car, book random hotels and figure it out yourself. But you don't speak Japanese. You don't know which zone got snow last night. You don't know about the secret access roads, or that the best off-piste is 20 minutes from the road everyone else takes. Half the trip is spent driving and guessing, and you fly home knowing you missed the best days — because you didn't know they existed.
There's a better way. That's why we started Wildr.
How it works
Forget fixed itineraries. Every evening we check conditions and weather forecasts across central Hokkaido — Asahidake, Furano, Kamui Links and other spots no tourists know about. Then we drive you to where the powder is deepest. Some days it's a resort with amazing off-piste. Other days it's a backcountry tour through untouched forest. We adapt to the snow, the group's level and preferences.

Groups of 4+ get a private trip — the house and guides all to yourselves.
Our base
Centrally located in the heart of Hokkaido's best ski terrain
A quiet farming village where you experience everyday Japan — friendly locals and genuine hospitality.
Izakayas with fresh Hokkaido ingredients — wagyu, homemade soba and local vegetables.
While Niseko is packed, Kamifurano stays blissfully quiet. You're often the only foreigners.
Furano, Asahidake and Kamui Links — all the best terrain within easy reach.
We stay in our two houses in Kamifurano, surrounded by locals and a five-minute walk to a range of restaurants, shops and cafes.
The standard is simple but cosy. We have everything we need. We often make breakfast at home before heading out or grab something simple on the way. A washing machine is available.
Two houses, nine bedrooms in total: four in SmallPow and five in BigPow. Six guests per guide at most.

Off the slopes

We take you to our favourite local spots — authentic ramen, yakitori and seasonal Hokkaido specialities.

Kamifurano is famous for its produce. Experience farm-fresh meals with local melon, asparagus and wagyu beef.

After a day of powder, unwind in natural hot springs with mountain views and outdoor baths.

"I had a fantastic ski experience in the Furano/Asahidake region of central Hokkaido. Petter Erik and Thien are incredibly knowledgeable and professional guides. Aside from the amazing powder skiing, we spent late afternoons and evenings at hidden onsens and delicious Japanese restaurants — it was truly an authentic experience. Like Niseko used to be 25–30 years ago! I strongly recommend their tours."

"I've had a ball skiing with Petter-Erik and Thien over the past two years. Their ability to find the pow is second to none and they are fantastic company — all adding up to an unforgettable ski experience. I know my daughter will be in safe hands and that PE and Thien will take great care while showing her some gorgeous secluded runs."

About us

Your hosts
Petter Erik is a passionate skier from Norway who has lived in Vietnam since 2017, and got hooked on Japanese powder in the winter of 2022/2023. Since then he has spent 2-3 months every winter exploring Hokkaido, visiting every peak, assisting local guides, taking avalanche courses and learning to read the weather forecasts.
Thien is Australian-Vietnamese and has been skiing in Japan regularly since 2002.
After years of exploring every corner of central Hokkaido's ski terrain, we started Wildr to share our favourite spots with fellow powder enthusiasts.
We're not a big tour company — just two passionate skiers who love showing guests the real Hokkaido.
