Questions and answers

The things people ask most before booking a powder trip with us in Hokkaido. Can't find your answer? Send us a message.

What is included in the trip?

Accommodation in our houses in Kamifurano, breakfast every morning, guiding every ski day, daily transport to the best snow, and pickup and drop-off at Asahikawa airport.

What is not included?

Flights, lift passes (about €20–45 a day on resort days), lunch and dinner, onsen entry, and travel insurance.

How long is the trip and when is the season?

The trip is 8 days. The season runs from December to March.

How big are the groups?

Six guests per guide at most. We run two guides, so there are never more than twelve guests in a week.

Where do we stay?

In our own two houses in Kamifurano, central Hokkaido, close to Furano and Asahidake. Nine bedrooms in total. One base for the whole trip, no hotels and no moving around.

Which airport should I fly to?

Asahikawa. We pick you up there. Most guests fly to Tokyo or Osaka and take a domestic flight on to Asahikawa.

What level do I need to be?

You should be comfortable on red and black runs and in ungroomed snow. Backcountry touring days are optional and need touring experience. The guide decides each day what suits the conditions and the group.

How do you handle avalanche safety?

The guide assesses avalanche conditions every day and chooses terrain from that. Petter Erik holds AST 1, AST 2, Avalanche Rescue and first aid training. On backcountry days everyone carries a transceiver, probe and shovel.

Can I rent skis and avalanche gear?

Yes. We rent this season's SGN powder skis, about 120 mm underfoot, for €55 a day with touring binding and skins, avalanche kits with transceiver, probe, shovel and backpack for €18 a day, and poles for €12 a day. Send us your height and weight and we set aside the right length.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, it is mandatory. It must cover off-piste and backcountry skiing, medical costs, evacuation, and search and rescue.

How much does it cost and how do I pay?

From €3,500 per person. A 30% deposit holds your place, and the rest is due three months before the trip. Payment is by bank transfer in euro.

What if I have to cancel?

The deposit is non-refundable. Serious illness, injury or a death in the immediate family is assessed case by case. If we have to cancel the trip, you get a full refund or new dates.
